What is PTFE?

Polytetrafluoroethylene ( abbreviated as PTFE), commonly known as the “King of Plastics”, is a tetrafluoroethylene as a monomer polymerization of polymers.
Can be used in any kind of chemical medium for a long time
PTFE can be molded by compression or extrusion; it can also be made into aqueous dispersion for coating, impregnation or fiber.

Difference between non-oriented and oriented films

PTFE film is mainly made of suspended PTFE resin after molding, sintering, cooling into blanks, then turning and calendering. The film made by tooling is non-directional film, and the non-directional film can become directional film after calendering. Non-oriented films can be calendered to 1.1-1.8 times semi-oriented films.
PTFE film can be used as capacitor media, wire insulation, electrical instrumentation insulation, sealing gaskets.
The main type of PTFE film is PTFE colored film.

PTFE sheet

PTFE can be classified into molded and turned sheets according to the different processing methods.

Molded PTFE sheets are solid sheets of uniform thickness and density produced by compressing a fine powder of PTFE resin under high pressure and temperature. The significant benefits of molded PTFE sheet are its superior strength and high purity.

Turned PTFE sheet is produced by slicing or cutting thin layers from larger blocks of compressed resin using specialized turning machines. Turned sheets are thinner but wider than molded sheets. Scraping allows for precise control of sheet thickness variations in different sections or areas. This thickness flexibility allows engineers and designers to customize the sheet to specific requirements, making it ideal for complex applications that require a custom fit.

  • Friction coefficient is less than 0.4, good self-lubrication.
  • Excellent insulation, breakdown voltage, volume resistivity and arc resistance are very high.
  • Good temperature resistance, wide range of use temperature
  • Low surface tension, non-sticky
  • Good corrosion resistance, resistant to strong acids and alkalis, water and a variety of organic solvents

PTFE Rod

Polytetrafluoroethylene rods (PTFE) are white, waxy, translucent, with excellent chemical resistance and dielectric properties, non-aging, non-stick, low coefficient of friction, the use of the temperature range of roughly -180 ° C ~ +260 ° C between.
There are three processing methods for PTFE rods:

  • Diameter 4-9mm dispersion resin extrusion processing
  • Diameter 4-200mm suspension resin cinnamon plug extrusion processing
  • Diameter greater than 200mm suspension resin molding processing
